OK, so when you install Spitfire Pro (on Windows, at least), Spitfire Core starts using twice the amount of RAM that it should be using (not that it tells you that: it pretends it's using the normal amount). So for the recommended preload value of 32768, both Sibelius and Spitfire claim Spitfire is using 21Gb of RAM. But 42Gb disappears from Windows, meaning that Core-on-Pro barely works on a 64Gb machine.
Paul from ScoreLikeADaw also found on his Mac that Pro is using much more RAM on single-mic patches than Core, even when it sounds identical, and even NotePerformer 4 is reporting the same thing.
Basically: I can do a Pro sound set for BBC, but until Spitfire bring their memory use into line, you have to put up with either note stealing or needing a 128Gb computer. And let's not get into multiple Mics, each of which doubles memory usage.
So, I will do a Pro version that adds the extra instruments in, and allows you to do stuff with the mics because I promised to, but it's not going to be usable unless you use an insanely small preload value. Which is fine, I guess, if you're just in it for the rendering.
Given both my sound set and NotePerformer 4's engine are dealing with the same Spitfire issues, I think this one might run and run.
