Windows users - a question about the installer

Hi all,

For anyone who downloaded the Windows installer: I've had a couple of reports about it simply not doing anything when clicked. It's not a problem I can replicate on any of the computers I have (a mix of Windows 10 and 11), except if I run the executable direct from the ZIP file (in which case, it loses sight of the two important DLLs - the ZIP should be extracted first). The installer is signed with a decent code certificate, so it's not SmartScreen, and if it doesn't get to asking for admin permissions, then it means the code wasn't even allowed to run.

Who else downloaded it and couldn't get it to work? I'd be grateful if you'd email chris@sibelius-services.com. I'm considering moving to a "ClickOnce" installer (there's an test unsigned version at http://qr.c64audio.com/setup.exe which you can try) because one person who had issues with the current installer had no problems with the ClickOnce one.

I'd hate for people to download this and think I was half-assed or letting dysfunctional code go out into the world, because I take this very seriously and see this as a long-haul thing - so I need to get this sorted out in this soft launch before proper launch. I just don't have too many options for testing this on the wide variety of computers and setups out there.

Cheers,

Chris
